Dog Days of Summer

HEre is the other member of the family. SHEBA- a slightly neurotic, anti-social Lab-Dachsund mix (mom-- Golden Retriever for a father). SHe doesn't seem to like the heat that much either. Actually she can be really sweet to the four of us (minor squabbles with the 2 year old at times) but can't stand anybody else coming near her--we think she is terribly afraid of them and so is loud and vicious sounding/acting to keep them away.

  1. There's daschund in that dog? Where? She looks very sweet.

  2. IT shows more in her size (and possibly in her temperament). Really she looks like a miniature Lab for the most part--as a puppy we thought that those genetics might leave her somewhat unproportioned but she grew past that.

  5. you may want to try this to get sheba to be okay with visitors. have some really special treats or cookies with you (hamburger, cheese, something irresistable and can be tossed if needed) when you go to answer the door. you go through the door and explain to the people that you are trying to help sheba overcome her fear and if they would offer her a cookie when they come in (even if she dosn't take it or come near them)go back through the door have them knock or ring the doorbell again. keep up the routine for about a month. you never know, it might help her.
