The musings of a traveler on Life's Quest
Is Armistice Day a big deal in Canada?
Not as much as it once was (we call it Remembrance Day). Federally regulated employees get a statutory holiday. Legion services are held at 11:00.Canadian Legions mark what they call Decoration Day on the Saturday of MemorialDay weekend in the US. But here has never been an official holiday that I know of. We have a very different military history and tradition.Mind you Canada has a holiday honouring Queen Victoria which is generally the 3rd Monday of May.
Nice summary Gord. I don't know about you, but that felt like the weekend that would NEVER end. Oy.
