I am mulling over the idea of purchasing a multi-media projector later this year.
BUt I am not sure how to knowwhat specs to look for and know that price alone is not always a good guide. SO I am wondering if readers out there have advice on what to look for in such a piece of equipment.
Sorry, we're in the same boat. Looking at a purchase of multi-media projector and screen. I'm clueless in this regard.
ReplyDeleteGord, one of the major challenges you will face is lighting - ie. how many windows you have in your sanctuary (or space you're planning on using it in) has. The more the space is lit, the more lumens you need in the bulb. Staples/Business Depot and Best Buy are somewhat helpful with questions, but a church setting is not something they are used to dealing with. You can probably expect to pay $1000 to $2000 for one.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's congregation went with a plasma/flat screen TV. I think it's 42 inches and lifts fairly easily onto the communion table. Then a couple in the congregation gave them a pile of money to have a system built right in, but that was $20,000 easily. I can get the name of the company if you are interested, but it's based in this part of Ontario (they may have contacts up your way, though).
Hope this helps. Blessings,
Sarah
In this context when I say "we" I mean us as a family. That way I have one when I am doing something I need it for (which may include worship) and teh church here is not likely to buy one anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteSo portability is an issue as well.
Then again it may be little more than a "what if"
